Our Bansuri are made from finest quality of bamboo which are at least 2 to 3 years old and are selected by Tejkumar Sharma himself. All the Bamboo Bansuri go through heat curing process and then through a sanding process where theirinternal and external walls are leveled and smothered to get a glass finish alike. Before starting to work on any bamboo bansuri Tejkumar Sharma takes various measurements to see which bamboo is ideal for which key/scale. After choosing the bamboo Tejkumar Sharma starts building bansuri patiently. No Bamboo bansuri goes to the next stage until each note is perfectly tuned and checked through various tuning methods. Allot of flute makers and flute players check bamboo bansuri through a digital tuner. This is a wrong way to validate a professional bamboo bansuri because nearly all digital tuners function in relation to EQUAL TEMPERAMENT whereas Indian bansuri are tuned in JUST TEMPERAMENT. To know the correct way to check the tuning of a bansuri click here. Once the tuning is completed it goes for cleaning to get rid of all the dust and dirt that might interfere the functionality of the bansuri. From there it goes for oiling where we use a specific low density non-toxic non-stick ‘natural mineral oil' so that no additional dust partials stick to the inner and outer walls of the bansuri. Additionally white mineral oil prevents liquids/moisture from penetrating the bamboo likewise keeping the bamboo's ideal moisture level intact for strength.
